ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
This qualification and the entire fundamental, core and elective Unit Standards associated with it can be achieved by any learner through the Recognition of Prior Learning, which includes learning outcomes achieved through formal, informal and non-formal learning and work experience. Learner and assessor will jointly decide on methods to determine prior learning and competence in the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes implicit in the qualification and the associated unit standards.

What will I be able to do after completing the course?
CIVIL ENGINEERING AND BUILDING CONSTRUCTION
COURSE OVERVIEW
The National Certificate (Vocational) for Engineering and Related Design is a new Engineering and Related Design Qualification at each of Levels 2, 3 and 4 of the NQF. This qualification is designed to provide both the theory and practice of Engineering and Related Design. The practical component of study may be offered in a real workplace environment, or in a simulated workplace environment. It will provide students with an opportunity to experience work situations during the period of study.
Students that successfully complete the Level 4 qualification may seek employment opportunities in this field. Students who wish to further their academic studies may advance to the N4-N6 Mechanical Engineering courses, or apply to other Higher Education institutions such as a University of Technology.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
PASS AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
The pass mark is 50% per subject for each of the vocational subjects.
The pass mark for Life Orientation and First Additional Language is 40% each. The pass mark for Mathematics and Mathematical Literacy is 30% each.
In order to obtain the NC(V) qualification at a particular NQF level and to progress to the next level you must pass all seven (7) subjects. You will not be certified if you fail any subject.
Please note that to be certified, the Internal Continuous Assessment (ICASS) mark is compulsory for fundamental subjects. The ICASS mark plus the examination mark is considered for certification.
Students must complete both internal (ICASS) and external (examinations) assessments to be resulted. Both components must be completed in the same academic year.
COURSE DURATION
The duration of each NC(V) level is one calendar year.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
PASS AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
The pass mark is 50% per subject for each of the vocational subjects.
The pass mark for Life Orientation and First Additional Language is 40% each. The pass mark for Mathematics and Mathematical Literacy is 30% each.
In order to obtain the NC(V) qualification at a particular NQF level and to progress to the next level you must pass all seven (7) subjects. You will not be certified if you fail any subject.
Please note that to be certified, the Internal Continuous Assessment (ICASS) mark is compulsory for fundamental subjects. The ICASS mark plus the examination mark is considered for certification.
Students must complete both internal (ICASS) and external (examinations) assessments to be resulted. Both components must be completed in the same academic year.
